Are you looking for your heart's desire??

If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I shouldn't look any farther than my own back yard. Because if it isn't there, then I never really lost it to begin with, Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ. I remember watching and hearing this when I was just a wee one and it has stuck with me most of my life. Home. There is no place like it! I am such a rooted grounded person and family is the most important aspect of my life. If you think about it you will spend most of your adult life with your co-workers or associates - knowing the amount of time that is I hope that this feeling of home is part of your company culture. If it is not, I suggest you make a change.

Home is where the heart is.....if your company doesn't create an feeling of home, being cared for, loved, supported, always growing, you will leave. Why is it that companies or organizations do not get this? It's such a easy concept. It doesn't mean that you have to spend lots of money creating kitchens, lounges, etc....it only suggests that we should treat our fellow associates as you would treat a friend or family member. I can't tell you how many people when I ask, "Do you have a best friend at work?" will tell me, "No I try and keep my friendships separate from work." Really? Why? I suggest that all employers start looking at selecting and developing people who care about family and honor great friendships. Look at Zappo's - now that's a family, and Nordstroms.....run by a family creating a culture of Nordies. GoDaddy company um...family!

Dorothy, I will always love your keen observations with the help of Toto, looking for your heart's desires! Meanwhile I'm going to step in the backyard for a little manifestation time! My heart if pumping!!! Adios!

An element of Fun!

As I sit here at my desk and think about my career - I'm overwhelmed by the depth and knowledge I have as a someone who looks into companies and can see solutions. I always like to spend most of time in the areas of strength - everyone knows I have many weaknesses. My greatest strength is the ability to see creative ways to get to the finish line. I love asking the tough questions - I love provoking thought....and in this time of stress the companies that dig down and look at new ways to do business will thrive. I was talking with a colleague of mine today about the economy after 9/11 and business just stopped! What did we do? WE GOT CREATIVE - WE found the element of fun!

What is the power of creativity - it's enormous! What can several talented creative people do in a day? Where can the power take your company? Do you tap into your most creative individuals? Do you even know who they are? They don't have titles or labels on their shirts - but this is the most valuable asset you have as a business owner today!

I would rather take the 5 most creative people I know put them in a room for a day and see what happens. This is more comforting to me than to walk by their desk and hope they are creating value for you!

Let me know what you think! How has creativity helped you recently?

Warm regards,

Anne Sweet
